Wondrous | Into the Mystic
Well, I do have to say I love this Van Morrison song, but today’s post isn’t about music but rather all about… fog. It can be beautiful yet creepy. It can be mystical and surreal. Inspiring and calming. You never know what may appear or disappear. I love the way it sits in these little spaces sometimes, not taking over your whole perspective but just little blips here and there. It sometimes creates optical illusions and may have you look at your everyday mundane surroundings in a new and beautiful way. The lighting is usually perfect too, especially if the sun is coming up or going down with it’s rays beaming through. There is a soft, textural quality to it.
Tuesday’s Design Post | Poster Designs for The Black Keys
A very cool band, The Black Keys, has been having different artists/designers fancy them up some fabulous posters for each of their shows while on tour. It’s been lovely seeing all the different designs and most are very old school in style and medium. I have a few to show you below… I tried to tag each with the artist/studio that produced them as well as additional info in regards to the paper and process used. If you want more info you can see it all on The Black Keys’s Facebook Page.

Fresh | The Hemingway Perspective
I was recently on a trip to Key West with my husband and in-laws and just adored the little city. As part of our first day there we decided to go on a tour of Ernest Hemingway’s home and it was spectacular. Mainly I was trying to gain a perspective he may have had by shooting images from inside looking out the windows, finding beauty in the architectural details and just random finds inside/outside of the property. I am not a fan of the touristy photo ops so I did my best to showcase my style of shooting. I decided to leave my huge Sony A-100 camera behind and instead grabbed my android with an app called vignette. I used the settings of vintage camera, summertime filter with Polaroid frame. Hope you enjoy! Oh, and there may be another post on other finds throughout Key West so stay tuned next week. Happy Friday the 13th y’all!

Now That’s Thrifty | Oxfords
Well, I guess everything has to come back around at some point and it appears that the oxford shoe is a hot item right now. Worn with or without socks, pair it with your favorite boyfriend or skinny jean or even go mega-oxford fab and grab yourself a pair with a heel on them for those skirts and dresses. So many fun new styles/color choices but for today’s “Now That’s Thrifty” post, I have searched my trusty etsy.com site for some vintage finds under $50 that I hope you enjoy. And if you’re not into doing vintage shoes then check out the likes of endless.com or even urban outfitters. Everyone has a new oxford out.
